Hello everyone, I knew that there had to be others out there. I may be a little different in my thinking, I just want my loans separated from my manipulative ex-husband who abandoned me so that I can pay off my portion in peace.

Here is a portion of my story: He left after 15yrs and since my name is the 1st on the joint spousal  consolidation loan i am ultimately on the hook. I had to claim bankruptcy because he left me with all the marital debt and even though the divorce decree says he has to pay 60% of the loans he only pays the minimum payment which means the loan will never decrease. Complete Student Loan Forgiveness would be a dream, but I just really don't want to be tied to my ex for the rest of my life having to beg him to pay his portion when he is making over 100k a year and the IBR recertification process is always a stressful time. I have spoken with Warren's aide via email and phone conversation and she suggested contacting Patty Murray and Maria Cantwell (I live in Washington State). Has anyone gotten a positive reaction to reaching out to either of them?
